Kaitlyn Petrakis is a dedicated and compassionate board certified family nurse practitioner working independently to her full scope of practice in Primary Care since 2018. She has a passion for providing holistic care to patients of all ages. Kaitlyn believes in fostering a strong patient-provider relationship built on trust and mutual respect, empowering individuals to actively participate in their own health journeys.
Kaitlyn has particular expertise in women’s health, pediatrics, and the management of chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. Her journey in healthcare began in 2009 as a mental health aide at UPMC’s Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic while pursuing her nursing degree at Carlow University. This experience instilled in her the importance of compassion and empathy in patient care. After graduating, she worked in the Intensive Care Unit at Magee Hospital, where she observed the prevalence of preventable diseases. This fueled her desire to do more and led her to pursue a Master of Science in Nursing to become an advanced practice provider.
Kaitlyn demonstrates a continued commitment to continuing education, staying up to date on the latest advancements in healthcare to ensure patients receive the highest quality care.
Kaitlyn is committed to integrating mental health into primary care. She recognizes the profound impact mental well-being has on an individual’s overall health and advocates for the destigmatization of mental health conditions. In her practice, she provides routine mental health screenings and offers resources and support to patients and their families dealing with anxiety, depression and other mental health challenges. She believes that addressing mental health needs is crucial for overall wellness. Kaitlyn’s approach to care is centered around the patient as a whole person. She takes the time to listen to patient concerns, understand their unique needs, and develops personalized care plans. She is committed to providing evidence-based care that is both effective and compassionate.
Kaitlyn believes in the importance of work-life balance, not just for her patients but for herself. To recharge, she cherishes time with her husband and two children, often spending time on the water or walking the trail together. An active lifestyle is important to her, and she enjoys skiing, golfing, and early morning exercises. In the summer, you’ll often find her canning vegetables from her garden. These activities help her recharge and bring a fresh perspective to her work with patients. Contact the office today to schedule an appointment with Kaitlyn.
